Practice Day.........

Well at last we managed to fit in a visit to Braylake, Maidenhead and got our wetsuits on for our first trial on the boards. Firstly, big thanks to Braylake for the sponsorship with providing the equipment and boards and also tuition. After getting kitted out wow... what an experience. With some expert tuition from Andy Crocker we were soon cruising with some trepidation I must add around the lake. The first wobble and splash came from Phil who not deterred was soon back on his feet and paddling about. It was a relief for me and Phil when we saw the size of the board to know that it would be ok for Nick, as with a head the size of a space hopper we figured it would be hard going for him to stay upright !!! but with a 12ft board it was just about ok and the counter balance worked well. Just don't turn your head quick Nick!!!!! In fact Whitty did very well and paddled around with style, that was until he went head long into a bouy which was approximately 2 feet high and in the middle of the lake which rivals Lake Windermere for size!! Me, well I had a dip after chuckling about Phil coming off, so that's just deserts I reckon... On a wide open lake it was good fun and we have lots to get to grips with but I can't help but wonder what it will be like on a canal so watch this space!!!!!
